Get to know LDrag Designs!

October is here and so is our first Featured Designer of the month! Grab your hot cocoa, put your kid away (LOL) and let’s have a chat with Lina.

1. Besides scrapbooking, what is one thing you are passionate about?
I am really passionate about art in general! Every aspect of Art really excites me as this way I can only vent all the things I am feeling. In my life I have spent a long time with music ( I played with an orchestra for many years). I also love painting and every type of craft! Recently cause my pc had a lot of problems I needed an immediate way of expression so I started revamping old things in my house using all type of things, like acrylic colours, craquele, and paper flowers! My most recent revamp were my beside table lamps!

2. How many hours a week do you spend designing? scrapping? community surfing?
I spend a lot of time designing basically!!! I scrape a lot less though cause I don’t have the time with two kids and I don’t community surf a lot as I am not a very talkative person!! But I usually go around the community to see what is going on!!!

3. How do you balance your time?
I try to balance my time between my family and my design! As I have already told you, designing is more for me a way to express myself through art! So if I am not feeling ok with myself I cannot be ok with my family too!! So they usually understand my need to design and they don’t nag lol!! Esp hubby!!!

4. Are you organized?
Crazy enough, people say that artists  are usually not organised, but I cannot work when there is chaos around me!! So I am very organized!!!I want my house to be tidy and not messy and my office too!!I love to have evrything in order and  I usually plan ahead of things!!!

5. What is your biggest source of creative inspiration?
Colours!!!!! I love colour palettes!! When I see a palette it usually speaks to me!!
I cannot say that I get inspiration from my family cause in Greece where I live the customs and traditions are so much different than American!! So mostly I am inspired by places  around me!! And Greece is full of beautiful colourful places esp during summer!!

6. If you were one of your kits, which one would you be?
Just Sail Away  the softness of this kit shows how smooth I want to be with everyone as I hate fights and I try to keep a positive look at everything I face!

7. Who is your designer idol? Scrap idol?
Erica Zane is my designer idol!! She is the reason I wanted to be a designer and the designer I always admire, and at the same time she had been my mentor when I first started designing! And that’s why my style of designing is quite similar to hers!!

8. Do you have “computer” friends? Anyone we know ;-) ?
Well I have computer friends but not many cause as I have told you I am not that talkative and I don’t feel nice when I can’t see the person I am talking to! MY best friend is Kim (Kim Broedelet) and I believe everyone knows her cause she is a GODDESS!!! It soooo easy to talk to Kim and she had been soooooo generous with me and helpful sooo many times!! Also, my friend Simona (aka lighmistress) is a very good friend!! The fact that we come from countries so similar (she is from Italy) has really got us close as we speak on messenger very often!!!

9. What is your favorite kit? Most popular kit? Newest kit?
My favourite kit is Just Sail Away! (see post above)

My most popular kit is the first kit I have started my guesting at SM last year Tropical Sunshine( I don’t know how many copies of this kit I have sold but it is still selling).

And my newest kit is Lavender Dreams

10. Who is your dream collab partner? What two designers would you love to see collab?
Ok my dream collab partner would be Flergs! I love her style and the amazing work she does!
Two designers? I am not sure but maybe Kim with Flergs lol!! My  dream collab partner with my best friend who is simply the BEST designer!!!

11. Name 5 things that you can touch RIGHT NOW from where you are sitting, no cheating!
My mobile phone, ny coffee, my printer, the TV remote control, and my new set of paint brushes (bought them just yesterday to paint my dd’s chair)!

12. Name 5 thing (NOT people) that you would take with you if you were stranded on a deserted island.
Mobile phone, my laptop  (but I dont know how it will work with no electricity), my kiddo’s pics, coffee and my bathing suit lol (I love the sea and the sun)!!!And a deserted island makes me think of sun and beach!

13. What is your biggest guilty pleasure?
sweets, I am guilty of eating sweets!!! Esp  chocolate and icecream!! I am sooooo quilty!!Please don’t punish me!!! I know but I can’t help it lol!!

14. Are you a Mac or a PC?
Mac is not at all popular in Greece so I am a Win person! I have never tried Mac though to see the difference!!

15. Do you snack while you work or surf the net?
Both, but I usually surf at breaks cause I can’t surf the net while I work!

16. Do you work best with noise or in silence? TV on or music?
I can’t work with complete silence, so I usually have the TV on!! But when I want to concentrate on something I need silence!! That’s why I work best at night or when the kids are not in the house to disturb me!!

17. How do you name your kits? Do you have a particular favorite?
Ok now you got me! My worst enemy is naming!! Being a foreigner and english is my 2nd language I find it really difficult to name kits. I usually ask for help from friends  or my CT!! But there is a kit’s name I specifically loved! Diamonds Are Forever. The title alludes to the song and since it is a girl kit it shows how our girls-diamonds are forever! And I found the name by myself!!! Can you believe it?

18. Night owl or Early bird?
Night Owl definitely!!And not only now!! All my life I work better at the silence of the night!

19. What is the last kit YOU bought?
Lol I am guilty on this!! I haven’t shopped for a long time!!! As I usually scrap with my stuff or use from other designers at SM! But I am very close to buy EZ’s wedding kit!

20. Coffee or Tea?
Coffee definitely lol!! IN Greece we drink tea only when we are sick lol!!
I know what you think but this is how different are our traditions!! Tea is for
sickness and old people here. Although many people have started drinking
green tea lately but I personally hate the taste!!

This month our theme on the site is tradition, so we want to get your take…

1. How would you describe your holiday traditions?
Holiday traditions have lost their strength the last decades in Greece!! I want to keep them as much as I can for my children, so that they have something to pass on to their own children! So I try to do all the traditional things we do. We specifically love the Christmas traditions and the Easter traditions!!! The best thing about it is that we do all the things together! This way we make the best memories for all of us!

2. What do you do to teach your kids or significant others about traditions?
Traditions in Greece have a lot to do with our nation! And I believe that this is the biggest lesson! We learn who we are and from whom we come from! So in a world that tries to completely destroy nations and traditions due to globalization , keeping our traditions help us know our identity and culture!

3. Do any specific kits or layouts come to mind when you think of these traditions?
Not many but esp the Christmas kit I have in my shop Joyful Christmas and Joyful Christmas Add on, also there is hybrid creation I made for a tradition we have here in Greece about baptisms and I was really proud of it cause I made it for all our guests to the baptism!!

Also this page I made from my son’s baptism . It shows a few of the traditions we have on baptisms too!

4. If you could encourage one tradition to others, what would it be?
The traditions that involve the gathering of families!! This way the ties are strong and there is noone else that we can rely on more than are own families!! I love family gatherings! It is so much fun and exciting when we all can meet and be together!! So that’s why Easter and Christmas are my most favourite holidays!!

5. Will you be having the same holiday traditions this year? Why or Why Not?

I try to do all the traditions every year but last year cause of my work I had to live in an island 6 hours away from my family! So for example, we couldn’t  decorate the christmas tree all together! So I didn’t have the chance to do all the things I wanted as I was away from my family!! I do hope that this year it won’t have to be so far away and I will be able to be close to my family!
